What Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, commonly called HBOT, involves breathing oxygen in a specially designed chamber where the atmospheric pressure is increased.
By providing oxygen under higher pressure, approx 5-10 x more oxygen is dissolved into the plasma and is available to the tissues in the body. Normally courses of 15-20 treatments are required for resolution of the condition. The increased pressure allows the body to take in more oxygen than it would under normal conditions. HBOT is used as part of the treatment plan for certain medical conditions and may also be considered for other health and recovery needs following an appropriate clinical assessment.

Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Covered by OHIP?
Certain medically eligible conditions may qualify for OHIP-covered hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Coverage depends on the patient’s condition, applicable eligibility requirements, referral documentation and clinical assessment.
Other treatments may be available on a private-pay basis when they are not covered by OHIP.

What to Expect for during your Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy session?
